Creating Emotional Resilience In a Multidimensional World

Our lives are rich with experiences; it’s how we experience life and interpret our experience that forms who and where we are today.

A warm welcome to my website – Who Am I?  I am a front-line trauma counsellor bringing forth many years of experience working with young people from the age of 5yrs old through to teenagers and into adulthood. Working within a strength based collaborative approach with single parents, couples and grandparents as they work through the complexity of relationships and issues with themselves and their families.

I am witness to the resilience of the human spirit and celebrate knowing that it takes a village /community to create a happy emotionally resilient family, teenager, young adult, adult.

I am witness to my own life experience and of others who have journeyed through the trauma of child sexual abuse, and other trauma, that recovery is possible. Not only creating emotional resilience and recovery but the possibility of designing what you want to do with your future.

Yes it is possible with support to deepen the knowledge of not only who you are but what you want and don’t want in life and make active choices on how to enrich your being/life.

We each know what we don’t want in life – the challenge is to discover what we do want – and then explore how we can incorporate that into our lives. Patterns learnt as children unconsciously / consciously  can trip us up – get in the way of reclaiming and moving forward with our lives. Its the discovery of those patterns and that each persons experience and interpretation of their journey is unique to them – that opens up a doorway to self discovery and possibility.

“Healthy Self – Heal Thy Self : Physical, Emotional, Mental and Spiritual

It when we discover that we are holistic beings – our thoughts and actions affect how we feel – mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually – which affects our actions. It can be a roller coaster ride until you discover you hold the slow down or stop button.

When there has been a traumatic experience  –Not only does the mind remember but our body’s hold cellular memory’s as well. We often hear comments of “that made me sick to my stomach”. Or you may see something and suddenly feel sad or angry yet not understand why or what the trigger is – (it’s our body remembering something). I have heard people say “my throat just tightens up when there is conflict or I need to say something”. It about learning to listen to what not only our mind is telling us but our body’s too.

It can be an enlightening and powerful moment when,

as individuals,

We come to the realisation that we are the ones who choose how we want to be in the world.

My passion is about people finding their own inherent wisdom and resources as they create their own unique way of healing. I can’t “fix” anyone. On a journey of discovery each person comes to the knowing of how they can resolve their issues and incorporate change and growth into their lives.

It’s about finding what makes you smile

You know the silly giggle moments that come from your heart and shine from your eyes.

Synergistic Therapies and Counselling

For many people, Talk Therapy is invaluable, while others find it limiting. Some require alternative ways to deepen their understanding of themselves and the issues.

I describe Synergistic Therapies and Counselling, as an approach that combines Talk Therapy with Action, utilising

  • Solution – Focused Therapy
  • Emotion-Focused Therapy
  • Brief Therapy
  • Experiential Therapy – Sound, Crystals, Drums, Meditation etc
  • Expressive Therapies – Art therapy, Sandtray, Play therapy, Puppets
  • Medical Intuitive – the Body remembers and knows
  • Aromatherapy – essential oils for the mind, body and soul
  • Australian Bush Flower Essences

The aim is to for people to discover their inner resources and ability to heal – creating and strengthening emotional resilience.

When we become aware of our needs, motivations, and patterns of behaviour, we are able to make more fulfilling choices and decisions for ourselves.

I have worked within counselling services for nearly 30 plus years; bringing with me a wealth of experience and knowledge.

It can be an enlightening and powerful moment when, as individuals, We come to the realisation that we are the ones who choose how we want to be in the world.
